Super Eagles forward Ademola Lookman hit top gear with a goal and an assist as Atletico Madrid thumped Barcelona 4-0 in the first leg of the Copa del Rey semi-finals on Thursday, Afrosport reports.
The 28-year-old completed a transfer Deadline Day move from Atalanta last week and made his debut in the quarter-final clash against Real Betis, netting his first goal and providing an assist for Antoine Griezmann in the 5-0 win.
Barcelona defender Eric Garcia scored an own goal to put Atleti ahead in the sixth minute at the Metropolitano before Griezmann doubled it eight minutes later.
Lookman made it 3-0 on the counter attack in the 33rd minute after an assist from Julian Alvarez. The 2024 African Player of the Year turned provider for Alvarez in added time of the first half to complete the scoring.
