Super Eagles forward Ademola Lookman returned to Serie A action on Saturday with a goal in Atalanta’s 3-1 defeat of Cyriel Dessers’ Cremonese.
Lookman came off the bench immediately after the half-time break to score a stoppage-time goal for Gian Gasperini’s side after goals Matern De Roon and Ivory Coast’s Jeremie Boga gave them a 2-1 lead.
The strike was Lookman’s 13th Serie A goal of the season as he ended his goal drought in the Italian top-flight since January 28 when he found the back of the net against Sampdoria.
Meanwhile, Dessers was introduced as a 74th-minute substitute for Marco Benassi but he couldn’t add to his tally of five Serie A goals this campaign.
Cremonese are still rooted to the bottom of the Italian top-flight table with 13 points after 28 matches, while Lookman’s Atalanta are fifth in the standings, level on 48 points with fourth-placed AC Milan.
Lookman and his Atalanta teammates will turn their attention to their Serie A outing against Bologna on April 8.
