Liverpool reject Bayern Munich approach for Diaz

Liverpool have turned down an approach from Bayern Munich for Luis Diaz, who has two more years on his current deal with the club, Afrosport reports.

Bayern sporting director, Max Eberl, has been informed that the Premier League champions are not looking to let the Colombia international go, as he is not for sale.

Diaz joined Liverpool in 2022 from Porto, and has scored 41 goals in 148 games for the club in all competitions, winning the Premier League, the FA Cup, and two League Cups.

The 28-year-old was instrumental to their success in the English top-flight last season, notching 13 goals and seven assists in 36 matches on their way to claiming a record-equalling 20th division title.

He was the subject of interest from Barcelona and Saudi Pro League side Al-Nassr but Liverpool quickly waived them off.

The forward recently expressed his satisfaction with fulfilling the remainder of his deal with the Reds if talks of an extension fails to come to fruition.

“I’m very, very happy in Liverpool. From day one, they’ve made me feel really welcome,” said Diaz, while away on international duty with Colombia last month.

“Right now we’re in contact with them because we’re speaking with [other] clubs. It’s normal, the market is open, and we’re trying to sort out what’s best for us.

“I am just waiting to see what happens. If Liverpool doesn’t make a good offer, I still have two years left with them, I would be happy and content to stay there.

“And that’s it, everything depends on them obviously, it’s up to me to decide what’s best for us and the future.”

Liverpool will begin their title defence at home against Bournemouth on 15 August when the 2025-26 season begins.
