Liverpool manager Arne Slot has revealed that right-back Jeremie Frimpong will be sidelined for a few weeks due to a groin injury, Afrosport reports.
The Dutch man of Ghanaian heritage was taken off after just four minutes in the Reds’ 6-0 bashing of Qarabag in the UEFA Champions League on Wednesday.
It is the second time Frimpong has been injured since joining Liverpool from Bayer Leverkusen last summer. He previously suffered a hamstring injury and was out for several weeks.
“He [Frimpong] will definitely not be in the squad tomorrow,” Slot said ahead of Liverpool’s game with Newcastle United.
“He is out for a few weeks, but [it’s] not as bad as we thought, so something positive from something not so positive.”

Slot will be without a recognised right-back for the game against Newcastle as Conor Bradley has been ruled out for the rest of the season with a knee injury.
Meanwhile, opposite on Merseyside, Everton manager, David Moyes has revealed that Jack Grealish will need surgery for a foot stress fracture and is expected to be out for the season.
The 30-year-old, who is on loan from Manchester City, has made 22 appearances in all competitions for the Toffees and has scored two goals and provided six assists.
“We believe Jack Grealish is probably going to need surgery. That’s still not absolutely confirmed, but it probably rules him out for the rest of the season.” – David Moyes. 🔵 pic.twitter.com/j1RJSKpCD7
