Liverpool manager Arne Slot has called on his team to have elite mentality like Mohamed Salah if they are to build on the momentum of winning this season’s Premier League, Afrosport reports.

The Reds have won the top flight under its current format for only the second time in their history after lifting the first in 2020 under Jurgen Klopp.

Salah was instrumental to this season’s triumph thanks to his 28 goals and 18 assists which will see him finish top of the charts in these two categories.

His impressive form earned him the Football Writers Association (FWA) Player of the Year and the Premier League Player of the Season.

Salah’s 46 goal involvements is just one shy of equalling Andy Cole and Alan Shearer’s tally of 47 goal involvements during the 1993-94 and 1994-95 season respectively.

Slot, addressing the press ahead of the season finale at home against Crystal Palace, believes such consistency as seen from 32-year-old Salah, will be key if they are to win the league on a more consistent basis.

“I don’t know yet if we will have that serial mentality to show up season after season. We will see on July 8 when we come back together,” the Dutch tactician said.

“Many have won the league but not many have won multiple seasons in a row.

“Not everyone has that elite mentality. Look at Mohamed Salah, who has been at that type of elite mentality for seven years in a row. He was the fittest when we arrived at pre-season. You need that to become a serial winner.”

Liverpool will officially be handed the Premier League title against Palace as their last game at Anfield for the season.
