Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp praised the partnership of Mohamed Salah and Darwin Nunez in the Reds’ 3-0 Premier League win over Aston Villa on Sunday.
Both players combined on multiple occasions in the encounter at Anfield, the most notable being the second goal where Salah fed Nunez before the Uruguayan’s goal-bound effort took a touch off Matty Cash. Nunez then headed the ball for Salah to score from close range for the third goal in the 55th minute.
Klopp asserted that Salah and Nunez had a discussion before the game on how they would combine on the pitch and the German tactician is happy it worked out perfectly.

“That was pretty much from the start like this, the two sprinters, they want to know where the other one is,” Klopp said on the club website.
“I’m pretty sure Mo told Darwin before the game as well, if a ball comes high, please deflect it, I’m on my bike. Yeah, the partnership was really good. I liked the line-up, to be honest. It’s a bit of a problem in my job that we make line-ups before we know if it will work out – but it worked out pretty well.
“And yeah, really happy for Darwin as well, the performance was exceptional. And we should not forget because it was an own goal or whatever. There were moments, rightly so, where the whole stadium was like, oh my God, there’s still a chance to get the ball.”
Liverpool will travel to Wolverhampton Wanderers for their next Premier League assignment after the conclusion of the two-week international break.
