Nantes manager Pierre Aristouy has labelled Moses Simon as “a great professional” after scoring the only goal in their 1-0 win over Clermont Foot in the French Ligue 1 on Sunday.
The Nigeria international broke the deadlock in the 48th minute with an audacious lob from distance after profiting from a defensive error from the opposition which allowed Florent Mollet to feed him with the ball.
It was Simon’s first goal of the season after providing two assists in the previous two games against giants Monaco and Marseille which ended in draws. It was also the 28-year-old’s first Ligue 1 on goal since February in a 3-1 defeat at Lens and his first goal in a win for Nantes since a 4-1 triumph over Brest last October.

“I’m happy for Simon. He is very pleasant to live with, a great professional,” Aristouy said on the club website.
“He has ego and shows that he is a great player. He is very comfortable on the left, but I am convinced that he can be very good in the center or on the right. It’s essential to have these attackers.
“He has this explosiveness… against [Alidu] Seidu who has won the most duels in the championship. He is in shape. He reaches the age of emotional maturity. He analyzes very quickly and he masters it.”
The victory was Nantes’ first of the season after consecutive loses against Toulouse and Lille fellows by the draws with Monaco and Marseille.
