Folarin Balogun missed twice from the penalty spot which proved to be costly as AS Monaco lost 1-0 to OGC Nice at the Stade Louis II on Friday night, Ivory Coast’s Jeremie Boga being the hero with his injury time goal.
The Eagles defeated reigning champions Paris Saint-Germain at the Parc des Princes last week and headed into this contest against a Monaco side that could only draw 2-2 at Lorient last time out, Balogun scoring his first goal for the club in that game.
Adi Hutter’s side should have been in the front in the 11th minute from the penalty but Nice goalkeeper Marcin Bulka pushed was able to palm away the resultant spot kick.

Another opportunity was presented to the American-Nigerian from the spot in the 55th minute but Bulka was equal to the task once again.
The floodgates finally opened in added time but it was in favour of Nice as Boga finished off emphatically by using his electric pace to spark wild jubilations among the travelling supporters.

The victory moved Nice one point above Monaco at the summit of the table. They will next tackle Brest at the Allianz Riviera while Monaco will be hoping to get back to winning ways when they host Olympique Marseille.
