Leeds United part ways with head coach Jesse Marsch

Leeds United have announced the sacking of head coach Jesse Marsch after a run of disappointing results.

The Yorkshire club parted ways with the American just a year after he replaced Argentine manager Marcelo Bielsa.

Marsch helped Leeds retain their place in the Premier League last season after a dramatic 2-1 win over Brentford on the final day of the season. However, the 49-year-old has struggled to lead the club out of the relegation zone this season.

The former RB Salzburg manager moved to the Premier League after a short stint with Leipzig in the German Bundesliga, with whom he mutually agreed to part ways after failing to produce impressive results.

Marsch joined The Whites in February 2022, signing a three-year contract to become the third American to manage in the English top division after Bob Bradley and David Wagner.

They are winless in their last seven league games, with their last victory in the Premier League coming in a seven-goal 4-3 thriller against Bournemouth at Elland Road back in October 2022.

Leeds are currently 17th in the league standings with 18 points from 20 matches and are only above the relegation spot on goal difference. They will face Manchester United next in a double-header on Wednesday and Sunday.
