Nigerians have welcomed the appointment of Bruno Labbadia as Super Eagles head coach with mixed reactions.
The former Bayer Leverkusen and Stuttgart manager was handed his first job as head coach of a national team on Tuesday, succeeding Finidi George to become the 37th coach of the two-time African champions.
Labbadia’s appointment came in the last-minute, less than a week before the international break as Nigeria prepare to face Benin and Rwanda on September 7 and 10 respectively, in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
A section of football fans in Nigeria welcomed the German coach while some are already pessimistic about Labbadia’s potentials to lead the Super Eagles to glory.
Bruno Labbadia the new super eagle coach caught everybody by surprise..a backdoor appointment doesn’t end well .. no rumors , no news .. no media speculations , I hope this manager would take @NGSuperEagles to where to actually belong and @thenff all eyes all you

Guys, just relax. Coaching a club is not comparable to coaching a national team. Bruno Labbadia is not a bad coach. He also coached my favorite team many years ago. There were ups and downs, but we almost reached the Europa League final. (2009/10) Give him a chance! He deserves…

I woke up to the news that the NFF has appointed Bruno Labbadia as our new head coach. I decided to check because I’ve never heard the name before, only to find out he’s yet another “journey man” just like Jose Peseiro. Why do they keep making these ridiculous appointments? Why?

As I told someone yesterday, when it comes to Nigeria, there is seldom cause to worry. Worry is a stress response to the possibility of a negative outcome. But when the negative outcome is no longer hypothetical, what is there to worry about? Welcome, Bruno Labbadia. https://t.co/NZD3N1p6Lh

Ran a quick Google search on that Labbadia guy, and all I can say is it ain’t looking good for the super eagles
He hasn’t lasted up to 2 years in any of his last 5 jobs, and he tends to leave them close to a relegation battle
It ain’t looking good for the super eagles bruv
