La Liga: Real Madrid’s Bellingham named Player of the Season  

5Real Madrid midfielder Jude Bellingham has been crowned the La Liga Player of the Season for the 2023–24 campaign, the league announced on Tuesday.

The 20-year-old has enjoyed a spectacular debut season in the Spanish top-flight since he joined last summer from German club Borussia Dortmund.

Bellingham was instrumental in helping Madrid claim a record-extending 36th league title, having finished with 19 goals and six assists in 28 La Liga matches.

The England international is on the verge of winning another title with Los Blancos this season as they prepare for the UEFA Champions League final against his old club Dortmund, with the game slated for Wembley Stadium on June 1.

Meanwhile, 16-year-old Barcelona winger Lamine Yamal has also been crowned La Liga U23 Player of the Season.

The Spain international, who is of African heritage, finished the season with five goals and five assists in 37 league appearances for the Catalan giants.

Yamal fended off tough competition from some of the best youngsters in the league which include teammate and compatriot Pau Cubarsi, Real Madrid’s Rodrygo Goes, Nico Williams of Athletic Club, Savinho and Yan Couto of Girona, Takefusa Kubo of Real sociedad and two others.
