La Liga: Las Palmas stun Barcelona, Atletico Madrid wallop Valladolid

Las Palmas stunned Barcelona 2-1 at the Estadio Olimpico Lluis Companys in Saturday’s La Liga Action, Afrosport reports.

Former Barca player Sandro Ramirez put Las Palmas ahead in the 49th minute, with a low shot after finding plenty of space in attack. Raphinha then leveled for his side on the hour with an excellent effort from outside the box, before Fabio Silva struck again six minutes later for the visitors to seal the three points.

The loss extended Barcelona’s winless streak in La Liga to three matches, while Las Palmas sits 14th spot with 15 points.

Elsewhere, Atletico Madrid walloped Real Valladolid 5-0 at the Jose Zorrilla stadium. Atleti broke the deadlock in the 26th minute as Clement Lenglet scored his first goal for the club. Julian Alvarez doubled the lead nine minutes later before Rodrigo De Paul fired home a third in the 37th minute.

Goals from Antoine Griezman in the 52nd minute and Alexander Sorloth in injury time made Diego Simeone’s side move up temporarily into second place.

Meanwhile, Irvin Cardona and Leandro Cabrera helped Espanyol claim a vital 3-1 win at home to Celta Vigo to end a run of four consecutive defeats while Mallorca defeated Valencia 2-0 to keep the visitors in the relegation zone.
