LA Lakers star Anthony Davis breaks 49-year NBA record

Eight-time NBA All-Star Anthony Davis had a historic night despite Los Angeles Lakers’ 115-105 loss to Phoenix Suns.

Davis became the only player to hit 35+ points, 20+ rebounds, 5+ steals and 5+ blocks in a single NBA game since the 1973-1974 season.

The 29-year-old has battled back from frustrating injuries to become just the third player in Lakers’ franchise history to record a double-double of 30+ points and 15+ rebounds in four consecutive games, joining ‘Hall of Fame’ inductees Elgin Baylor and Shaquille O’Neal.

The Olympic gold medalist finished the game with an impressive stats, putting up 37 points, 21 rebounds, five steals and five blocks. He scored 11 of his 17 attempted field goals and made 15 of his 16 free throws.

Power forward Davis has put up staggering numbers for the 2020 NBA champions over the last four games in the absence of four-time MVP LeBron James, averaging 35.5 points, 18.3 rebounds, 3.5 blocks on 62 percent field-goal made.

Davis and the Lakers will hope to get back to winning ways when they face the San Antonio Spurs on Saturday at 2am Wester African Time.
