Kenya’s Emmaculate Anyango Achol has been provisionally suspended after a failed doping test, the Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU) announced.
The 24-year-old cross country runner failed a doping test for the banned drug testosterone and blood-boosting hormone EPO.
Anyango, the world’s second-fastest woman over 10 kilometres, faces a ban of up to four years if found guilty with the provisional ban expected to continue until the settlement of her case.
She ran under 29 minutes (28:57), finishing second behind fellow Kenyan Agnes Jebet Ngetich, who set a world record with a time of 28:46 in Valencia in January.
Anyango recently finished fourth at the 2024 World Cross Country Championships, where she helped Kenya win the team gold medal.
