Keita Balde joins Monza on free transfer

Keita Balde has signed for Monza on a free transfer with a contract that runs to the end of the season with the option of an additional year, Afrosport reports.

The Senegal winger has been a free agent since terminating his contract with Turkish Super Lig Sivasspor on January 1.

Balde had been training with Monza for a few days and had reportedly impressed coach Alessandro Nesta, who returned to the team after the dismissal of Salvatore Bocchetti, who initially replaced the former AC Milan defender on December 23.

The 30-year-old is no stranger to the Serie A having played 185 times across spells with Lazio, Inter Milan, Sampdoria and Cagliari, scoring a combined 41 goals and providing 21 assists.

He also featured for AS Monaco, Espanyol and Spartak Moscow in France, Spain and Russia respectively.

Keita Balde has been capped 40 times for Senegal, scoring six goals and providing three assists. He was part of the successful Teranga Lions that won the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon.
