Katsina United invite 120 indigenous players for screening

Katsina United have announced the invitation of 120 indigenous footballers in Katsina State for talent hunt and screening exercise.

Katsina United were relegated from the Nigeria Professional Football League last campaign after suffering a 2-0 defeat to Wikki Tourist on the final matchday. They finished the 2021-22 season in the 17th spot with 48 points from 38 games.

The 120 invited players were drawn from the 34 local government areas in Katsina and the screening exercise is scheduled to hold from Wednesday, September 28 to October 6, 2022 at the Muhammadu Dikko Stadium.

According to a statement by the club, the screening exercise is meant to revamp the team and also to give more chances and playing time to the indigenous players.

Katsina United’s director of football development, Saleh Yusuf stated that feeding and accomodations will be provided to all the invited players and he also expressed gratitude to the State’s Commissioner for Sports, Dr Bishir Gambo Saulawa for his support.

Katsina United will play in the Nigeria National League (NNL) in the 2022-23 season with the ambition of returning to the top-flight.
