Juventus legend Alessandro Del Piero has announced he has completed the required courses to earn a UEFA pro licence, which allows him to become a qualified coach in Europe, Afrosport reports.
The 50-year-old has been doing work as a pundit for different media in Italy and abroad since retiring in 2014 and has juggled it with earning the relevant badges to become a certified coach.
Del Piero took to Instagram, stating he can now be addressed as ‘Mister’, a term used for Italian football coaches.
“From today, you can also call me Mister,” he said in the post
“Thanks to the FIGC and all the instructors who guided me through this course. I’m grateful to everyone who collaborated and shared this crucial educational journey with me,” Del Piero continued.
“A special thank you to my children and my wife for the support they gave me during these years of study and the beautiful surprises they gave me today in Florence by showing up for the presentation of my thesis, which encapsulates an integral part of my professional and personal experiences as well as may vision of football and the role of the coach.”
Del Piero spent the bulk of his career at Juventus, where he is the all-time top scorer with 290 goals and most appearances (705).
He won a total of 16 titles with the Bianconeri, including six Serie A titles, one Serie B title and one UEFA Champions League. He also won the 2006 FIFA World Cup with Italy.
