Real Madrid midfielder Jude Bellingham is set for a spell on the sidelines after suffering a leg injury in training on Friday.
The Spanish champions revealed that the England international has suffered an injury to the plantaris muscle in his right leg, ruling him out of this weekend’s action.
Bellingham, who was named the La Liga player of the season last campaign, is expected to be out for about a month and will return after the September international break.
Madrid’s statement on the club’s official website read: “Following tests carried out today on our player Jude Bellingham by the Real Madrid Medical Services, he has been diagnosed with an injury to the plantar thin muscle of his right leg. Pending evolution.”

The 21-year-old scored 23 goals and provided 13 assists in 42 matches in all competitions for Los Blancos in his debut season in Spain.
Bellingham will be missing from Madrid’s first home game of the season when they host Real Valladolid in La Liga this Sunday at the Santiago Bernabeu.
He will also miss their games against Las Palmas at the Gran Canaria Stadium on August 29 and their home game against Real Betis on Sunday, September 1, before the international break.
Bellingham, who played 88 minutes in Madrid’s 1-1 draw at Mallorca on opening weekend, will join Eduard Camavinga on the team’s list of recent injuries after the French midfielder was also injured in training before their UEFA Super Cup clash against Bayer Leverkusen.
