Two-time MVP Nikola Jokic became the player with the most assists in Denver Nuggets history following their 122-118 win against the Minnesota Timberwolves on Wednesday.
The Serbian finished the game against the Timberwolves with his 14th triple-double of the season, the 90th of his career, dishing out 13 assists with 11 rebounds and 31 points for his team’s eighth straight win.
Jokic made his 3,680th career assist to surpass small forward Alex English’s record for the franchise.
However, the record was more impressive because it took the towering Serb 269 fewer games than English to reach the milestone.
After the game, Jokic paid tribute to his teammates, alluding to their willingness to work with him.
“Hopefully, my teammates love to play with me just because I share the ball. My teammates are always in the right spot; it’s an easy job for me,” he said after the game.
Alex English applauded the four-time All-Star vis post on his official social media channel.
It read: “I knew that eventually my all time assist record would be broken. I’m honored to see that it’s 2 time, I mean 3 time MVP of the NBA do it. Congrats big fella.”
