Nicolas Jackson was in top scoring form once again as he netted a brace in Villarreal’s 2-0 La Liga win over Cadiz on Wednesday.
The Senegal international is on a consistent scoring run of late and continued when he opened proceedings at Stadio de la Ceramica in the 20th minute, making a meal of three Cadiz players including goalkeeper Jeremias Ledems before putting the ball into an empty net .
The Yellow Submarines doubled their lead in the 42nd minute but Manu Trigueros’ effort was ruled out by Video Assistant Referee (VAR) for a foul in the build-up to the goal.
The Castellon outfit were not going to denied in added time of the first half as Jackson ran past Ledesma and put the ball into the empty net from the right edge of the penalty area for his eighth goal in his last six matches.
Jackson has now increased his tally to nine goals in 23 La Liga games this season.
Speaking after the game, Villarreal boss Quique Setien said of Jackson: “Nico is a constant threat and gives us a lot in the game, he’s in an exceptional moment…”

Villarreal sit in fifth spot on the table and are guaranteed of a place in the Europa League next season. They are however five points behind Real Sociedad in the race for Champions League football with only two games left against Rayo Vallecano and Atletico Madrid to wrap up the season.
