The Ivory Coast U-23 national team finished fifth in the 2023 Toulon Tournament after a 3-1 victory over Saudi Arabia U-23 in the placement playoffs on Thursday while the Morocco U-20 team finished seventh following a 1-0 win over the Venezuela U-23 team.
The Elephants failed to make it to the semi-finals of the prestigious youth tournament after finishing one point behind Panama U-23 in Group C while the Atlas Lions finished in third ahead of the Japan U-19 team.

The placement playoff was therfore all that was left to play for in Toulon and the Ivorians dominated their Saudi opponents with N’Dri Koffi, (brace) and Yassin Toure getting their names on the scoresheet while Mohammed Maran scored for the Saudis.

In Morocco’s game, Adnane Bensaad Gasmi’s 50th minute strike made the difference as Venezuela finished with 10 men after Saul Guarirapa received his marching orders in added time.
The semi-finals of the Toulon Tournament will take place on Friday with Australia U-23 taking on Panama while the France U-18 side take on Mexico U-23.
The third/fourth playoff and final holds on Sunday.
