Alexander Isak scored a brace as Newcastle United recorded their sixth Premier League win in a row by defeating Wolverhampton Wanderers 3-0 on Wednesday night, Afrosport reports.
There had been doubts whether Isak would be fit to start the game having sat out the Magpies’ 3-1 win over Bromley in the third round of the FA Cup over the weekend.
He however started against Wolves at St. James’ Park and put his team ahead in the 34th minute.
It was the eighth successive Premier League game the Swedish forward scored in, joining Ruud Van Nistelrooy, Daniel Sturridge and Jamie Vardy as the only players to have achieved that feat.
8 – Alexander Isak is just the fourth different player to score in eight successive Premier League appearances, after Jamie Vardy (twice for Leicester), Ruud van Nistelrooy (twice for Manchester United), and Daniel Sturridge (for Liverpool). Unstoppable. pic.twitter.com/evZ4QCC0y1

Isak doubled Newcastle’s tally in the 57th minute off a Bruno Guimaraes assist for his 15th league goal of the season before turning provider for Anthony Gordon who netted the third goal in the 74th after VAR intervention.
Santiago Bueno thought he had scored his first goal for Wolves five minutes later but it was ruled out by VAR for handball.
The victory sees Newcastle move above Chelsea into fourth spot and are nine points behind Liverpool who have a game in hand.
Next up for manager Eddie Howe is a home tie against his former club Bournemouth on Saturday afternoon.
