Isak becomes Swedish all-time Premier League top scorer

Everton boss Moyes disappointed with draw against Manchester United

Alexander Isak became Sweden’s all-time top scorer in the Premier League after netting a brace in Newcastle United’s 4-3 win over Nottingham Forest on Sunday, Afrosport reports.

Callum Hudson-Odoi put Forest in front in the sixth minute at St. James’ Park but the lead only lasted 21 minutes as Lewis Miley and Jacob Murphy gave Magpies the advantage.

It was further extended when Isak scored from the penalty spot in the 33rd minute and completed his brace a minute later following an assist from Joe Willock.

It took the 25-year-old of Eritrean heritage to 50 goals in the Premier League in just 76 appearances while he overtook Freddie Ljunberg (48 goals) to become the highest-scoring Swedish player in the history of the English top flight.

Isak is now on 19 league goals, two behind his total tally from last season and four behind current top scorer Mohamed Salah.

Nottingham Forest tried to stage a comeback in the second half and had further goals from Nikola Milenkovic and Ryan Yates in the 63rd and 90th minute, but they were no more than a consolation.

Nuno Espirito Santo’s men remain in third place while Eddie Howe’s side moved level on 44 points with fourth-placed Manchester City who face League leaders Liverpool later on Sunday evening.
