Iraola hopeful of Semenyo stay at Bournemouth amid transfer interest

Fernandes and Mainoo to miss Man United clash with Newcastle

Bournemouth manager Andoni Iraola is hopeful Antoine Semenyo can stay at the club despite heavy interest from leading Premier League club, Afrosport reports.

The 25-year-old Ghanaian has been one of the most talked about players ahead of the January transfer window, with reports suggesting the likes of Manchester City, Manchester United, Liverpool, Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea, are all interested in his services, as he reportedly has a £65 million release clause in his contract.

Iraola however does not want to see him leave having seen the likes of Burkina Faso winger Dango Ouattara, Illia Zabarnyi, Milos Kerkez and Dean Huijsen depart for big money in the summer.

“Semenyo right now is with us. He trained today with us,” the Spaniard said.

“I know that there is lots of noise around him. Not my concern, my concern is that it doesn’t affect his performances. It is not yet, he is very committed to the team, and I hope we can keep him here.

“We cannot control the situation, but Antoine right now is our player. [He is] going to continue playing for us. If you ask me, I don’t want to lose him, definitely don’t. But every time the market opens, you never know what is going to happen.”

Semenyo has scored eight goals and provided three assists in 16 Premier League games this season with Bournemouth sitting in 15th place, seven points shy of the relegation zone.
