Super Eagles forward Kelechi Iheanacho has revealed he and his teammates need to put in more effort despite Leicester City overcoming Aston Villa in a thrilling 4-2 encounter in the Premier League on Saturday.
The 26-year-old, who started just his second league game of the season, was the hero of the match, as his 41st minute effort, along with two assists, led the Foxes to their first win in the Premier League since before the World Cup.
The former Manchester City forward set up James Maddison for the Foxes’ first goal of the match before getting on the scoresheet himself with a brilliant close range header to put his side level for the second time.
He then turned provider again as he played new signing Tete through on goal for Leicester’s third of the game in the first half stoppage time.

After the superb encounter, the Nigerian reiterated that the team’s focus should now be on building momentum as they move on in the season.
“We’re happy today to get the win. It’s been a little while, but getting this win now, we’re happy, and we can build into the next games. Hopefully we can continue in those games. We had a good feeling coming into this game,” he told LCFC TV
“We’d trained really well. With the new guys as well coming into the game, they did really well today as well. We know what we have to do now.”
“We had a lot of chances in the game. Conceding [the first] goal is not easy, but we stayed calm and we kept creating chances and opening the spaces. Madders got us back into the game and then Harvey Barnes you know what he’s like.”
“I know where he’s going to play it straight to the back post, so I pulled away from the defender and got a good finish. Obviously, starting today, I was really happy to do my bit for the team. We got a win today as well so I’m really pleased,” Iheanacho added.
With the Foxes set to play three teams in the top-six over their next three league matches, Iheanacho says they cannot rest as they continue their pursuit of valuable points.
“We need to do a bit more. It’s a good performance, but we need to give more, running forward and back, challenging for first balls and second balls, winning battles… there’s a lot of things to work on, but hopefully it’s good momentum for the next games,” he concluded.
The Eagles forward loves playing against Villa, as he now has seven goals and four assists in 10 matches against the West Midlands club.
The win was an important one for Brendan Rodgers’ team, as they now move into 13th place with 21 points, three clear of the relegation zone.
