Ighalo makes goalscoring debut for Saudi’s Al Wehda

Nigeria striker Odion Ighalo marked his brief debut appearance for Al Wehda with a goal in their 3-0 victory against Al Tai in the Saudi Pro League.

Ighalo was introduced into the encounter as an 86th-minute substitute and he sealed his team’s win with the third goal in the 92nd minute.

Earlier in the game, goals from Tunisia’s Faycal Fajr and Saeeed Al Muwallad gave Al Wehda a comfortable two-goal lead.

Al Wehda have overcome their 1-0 defeat to Al Riyadh in the league opener with their second victory of the season after they dispatched Al Shabab 3-1 a week ago.

Ighalo joined Al Wehda as a free agent this month after his contract with rivals Al Hilal was terminated at the end of last season.

The former Watford and Manchester United forward was among the highest scoring players in Saudi Arabia last season with 31 goals in the top-flight division.

He will be aiming to make his first start for Giorgios Donis’ team when Al Wehda battle Al Ittihad in their next Saudi Pro League game on August 28.
