Victor Osimhen’s summer-long transfer saga reached its end on Wednesday when the Nigerian forward completed a loan move to Turkish Super Lig club Galatasaray.
Having put pen to paper, the Super Eagles forward, who will wear the number 45 jersey during his time in Turkey, promised Galatasaray fans to give his absolute best and “do everything” he can.
“Greetings Galatasaray fans. Osimhen is here,” the Napoli loanee told club media. “Thank you very much for welcoming me at the airport. It was a wonderful welcome. “I will do everything I can and dedicate myself to you.”
Osimhen stated that joining the reigning Turkish champions was an “easy decision”, adding that he’s always followed Galatasaray’s matches.
He said: “When I heard about Galatasaray’s interest, it was an easy decision for me. I knew how big Galatasaray was, how much of a family it felt like. It has incredible fans.
“Henry Onyekuru is my friend. He played for Galatasaray. He told me how great the club, the fans and the people are here. So it was an easy decision for me.
“When I landed at the airport, the fans welcomed me with such excitement, and I was very happy about that. Such things are important for a player. I want to do everything I can for them. I am eagerly waiting for this project. “I am very excited.”
The Nigerian, delighted to reunite with former teammate Dries Mertens, who he played with for a two-year period in Napoli, added that he is very excited to link up with the Belgian forward once again.
“Dries Mertens was always with me when I went to Italy. He was like a big brother to me. He is someone I respect very much, I am very excited to be his teammate again. “I am looking forward to meeting my teammates as soon as possible.”
“I was already watching Galatasaray matches. I was following how Mertens was playing since he came here. I was following how he was developing as a person and as a player.
“Their interaction with the fans when they score goals and win matches is also exciting. Now I hope that our fans will support me after every goal. “I am waiting with excitement, ” he stated.
With club football across Europe on hold due to the international break, Osimhen will be hoping to make his Galatasaray debut when they host Rizespor on Saturday, September 14.
