Guardiola’s nightmare continues as Ruben Dias set for spell on the sidelines

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has confirmed that Portugal international Ruben Dias will be unavailable for three to four weeks due to injury, Afrosport reports.

Dias picked up the injury during the 2-1 defeat to Manchester United last Sunday and would be expected back in late January.

The Citizens have been battling with injuries this season with the defence taking a big hit as Dias joins the likes of Nathan Ake and Kyle Walker on the injured list.

“It’s a muscular problem and he will be out for three to four weeks,” Guardiola said ahead of the Premier League trip to Aston Villa.

“After 75 minutes against United, he felt something. But he’s so strong and wanted to stay on the pitch. Now he’s injured.”

However, Guardiola had some positive news to share as he confirmed Matteo Kovacic, John Stones and Manuel Akanji all trained this week and could be available for selection against Villa.

Man City are currently going through a very difficult phase with only one win in their last 11 games in all competitions and will be hoping to bounce back to winning ways at Villa Park.
