Nigerians are far from happy following the Golden Eaglets’ exit from the U-17 Africa Cup of Nations on Thursday night.
Nduka Ugbade’s boys suffered a 2-1 loss to Burkina Faso in the quarter-final which sent them packing from Algeria and also miss a qualifying ticket for the FIFA U-17 World Cup later this year.
The Golden Eaglets conceded two defeats and recorded two wins in four matches in the competition, but their inability to convert chances in Algiers on Thursday has led to backlash from fans.
Gutted for the Golden Eaglets yesterday.
Good young team.
Just didn’t know how to convert chances.
Hope they graduate to U20s.— Original Allen (@OgaAllen) May 12, 2023
Can’t fathom why Nduka Ugbade is the coach of the Golden Eaglets in 2023. Must have landed this job riding on the success of Manu Garba in 2013.

When will the glory days of our golden eaglets return.
Our Golden Eaglets won FIFA World Cup 8 years ago and since then nothing.

Can you back this up with any proofs?
I am also sad that the Golden Eaglets won’t be at the world cup.

Those boys played against Burkina Faso as if nothing was at stake. Burkina Faso wasn’t superb but the Golden Eaglets just refused to raise their game and their decision making was terrible to say the least. They would dribble instead of passing and also shoot unnecessarily

A world cup ticket would have provided a much better platform and learning experience for the boys ( he pained me gaan). Everything point to good coaching.
Go follow; @schoolsfootyng #goldeneaglets #nigeria #afconu17

This is not our Golden Eaglets there were poor in even ball control and finishing. The coach is terrible.

This is the only U17 team with no proper striker of all the golden eaglets team.

After watching all group games of the Golden Eaglets, I deliberately didn’t watch the Quarters, Boys are wasteful in front of goal. I didn’t have the strength to shout. Same way I have long stopped all Chelsea games. I am no longer young for these things. #AFCONU17

I knew the golden eaglets might loose, they were never ripe for this competition in the first place talk more of qualifying for the world cup.
The best teams made it through after all, congratulations to them.

Now i believe that all the times #Nigeria have won #U17worldcup we were using over age players, Now that we use under age players #GoldenEaglets can’t even qualify

Very Sad and Disappointing that the Golden Eaglets are not going to the World Cup. Five-time World champions! How are the mighty fallen. What is the fate of those boys now? Painful.
