Gent striker Gift Orban has hinted about a potential move to the Premier League in the future.
The 20-year-old sensation grabbed headlines with four second-half goals, including a well-taken freekick to help Gent to a 6-2 victory away at Zulte Waregem in the Belgian Pro League on Sunday.
Orban joined Gent in January from Norwegian club Stabaek, and he has scored nine goals in eight games across all competitions since his debut outing on February 11.
In the Belgian Pro League, he has registered seven goals in five matches which earned him the club’s Player of the Month and Goal of the Month awards/
Following his extraordinary performance against Zulte Waregem, the Nigerian was in high spirits and he is optimistic about replicating form in the English top-flight.
“My level has to be even higher if I ever want to play in the Premier League. There is still a lot of work to be done.”
“Don’t look at that {my goal numbers}. I play my matches and score my goals. You never know, that’s football.”
Orban is the first KAA Gent player to score four goals in a Belgian Pro League game this century.
His performances are as eye-catching as it gets, as no player in Europe’s top 10 leagues currently has more goals than the youngster since his arrival in Belgium.
He will now be hopeful of a maiden call-up to the Super Eagles ahead of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying double-header against Guinea-Bissau on March 24 and 27.
