Chelsea legend and two-time African Footballer of the Year, Didier Drogba has congratulated Nigeria star Victor Osimhen for leading Napoli to their first Serie A title in 33 years.
Osimhen followed his equaliser in the 1-1 draw against Udinese last Thursday, with a match-winning goal from the penalty spot in Napoli’s 1-0 defeat of Udinese on Sunday.
Sunday’s goal took the 24-year-old’s tally to 47 Serie A goals since he moved to Naples from Lille in 2020 and he overtakes Liberia’s George Weah as the highest-scoring African in the Serie A history.
Drogba, in his tweet, acknowledged Osimhen’s rise from the streets of Lagos in the Southwestern part of Nigeria to making a name for himself on the world stage.
He tweeted: “Indeed Capo, Victor Osimhen from the streets of Nigeria to the world’s history books. Congratulations my Brother to you and your club.”
