Reigning European champions Paris Saint-Germain were a class apart as they thumped 10-man Atletico Madrid 4-0 in Group B of the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup in Los Angeles on Sunday, Afrosport reports.
The sun dominated the skys at the 80,619-filled Rose Bowl in Pasadena, and PSG got things off when Spain midfielder Fabian Ruiz finished off clinically in the 19th minute followed by a Vitinha strike in added time of the first half, both goals assisted by Khvicha Kvaratskhelia.
Atletico Madrid tried to half the deficit in the 58th minute but Julian Alvarez’s effort was ruled out by VAR for a foul in the build up.
Things went from bad to worse for the Spanish capital side when Clement Lenglet was given his marching orders in the 78th minute for a second bookable offence.
This allowed PSG room to score more goals in the closing stages of the game which came via substitutes Senny Mayulu and Kang-In Lee (penalty).
The current European Champions start their #FIFACWC campaign with a win.
