The Nigeria Basketball Federation (NBBF) have announced 21 players that will take part in the last round of the 2023 FIBA Basketball World Cup Qualifiers taking place in Luanda, Angola later this month.
The 21 players are drawn from six local clubs and two free agents based in the United States of America. Five of the players are from Gombe Bulls while four each are from Kwara Falcons and Rivers Hoopers. The Nigeria Customs provides three players.
Two players from Kano Pillars in Nnoruka Francis and Chinedu Chimbou also made the cut as well as Abah Patrick from Benue Braves. The two free agents Two free agents in Olatunji Graham and Edenchukwu Derrick complete the 21-man list.
The team will be led by Rivers Hoppers coach Ogoh Dauda as they prepare to tackle the Ivory Coast, Angola and Guinea in the qualifiers. Preparations will begin this Sunday in Abuja with Daudu assisted by Baba Jubril of Kwara Falcons and Abdulrahman Mohammed.
The FIBA Basketball World Cup takes place from August 25 till September 10 and will take place across multiple cities in Indonesia, Japan and the Philippines.
