FEMAFOOT President Toure in police custody for misappropriation of public funds

President of the Malian Football Federation (FEMAFOOT) Mamoutou Toure has been placed in pre-trial detention in the country over allegations of damage of public property, forgery and use of forgery.

Mamoutou, seeking re-election as FEMAFOOT President, is charged with misappropriating public funds between 203 and 2019, just before he took over as the head of the country’s FA.

The case cast doubts over the upcoming FEMAFOOT general elections for new executives on August 29 with Toure the only qualified candidate after his three other opponents were disqualified.

Toure’s arrest with other football administrators including former AS Real Bamako President Issiaka Sidibe and FEMAFOOT Secretary General Modibo Sidibe.
