FA Cup: Salah impresses in comfortable fourth round win over Brighton

Mohamed Salah scored from the penalty spot and provided an assist as Liverpool recorded a comfortable 3-0 win over Brighton & Hove Albion in the fourth round of the FA Cup on Saturday, Afrosport reports.

The Reds defeated Barnsley 4-1 in the previous round and were fresh from a 1-0 Premier League win at Sunderland in midweek, Salah assisting Virgil van Dijk to level with Steven Gerrard on 92 top flight assists, the most by any Liverpool player.

Curtis Jones scored the first goal against Brighton in the 42nd minute before Salah assisted Dominik Szoboszlai for the second goal in the 56th minute.

The Egyptian superstar completed the scoring from the spot in 68th minute to s take his season tally even goals and eight assists in all competitions.

In other FA Cup results on Saturday, 10-man West Ham United defeated Burton Albion 1-0 after extra time while Mansfield stunned Burnley 2-1 at Turf Moor.

Marc Guehi scored his first Manchester City goal as the Citizens edged past Salford City 2-0, Norwich City defeated West Bromwich Albion 3-1 while Southampton edged follow EFL Championship side Leicester City 2-1 and Newcastle United came from behind to defeat 10-man Aston Villa 3-1 at Villa Park.

Earlier on Friday, Pedro Neto netted a hat-trick as Chelsea thumped Hull City 4-0 and Wrexham beat Ipswich Town 1-0 at Racecourse Ground.
