FA Cup: Newcastle to host Manchester City in fifth round

Newcastle United will host Manchester City in the fifth round of the FA Cup following Monday’s draw, Afrosport reports.

The Magpies came from behind to defeat 10-man Aston Villa 3-1 in the fourth round at the weekend at Villa Park while the Citizens comfortably got past Salford City 2-0.

Newcastle and City will meet in a cup competition for the third time this season after facing either other in the EFL Cup semi-finals recently which Pep Guardiola’s side won 5-1 on aggregate.

Meanwhile, EFL Championship side and Premier League hopefuls Wrexham will host Chelsea at Racecourse Ground while Norwich City will go head-to-head with Leeds United in a reunion for coach Daniel Farke.

Most successful FA Cup side Arsenal will go up against Mansfield Town who stunned Burnley at Turf Moor in the fourth round while Fulham host Southampton, Sunderland visit either Port Vale or Bristol City, Liverpool travel to Wolverhampton Wanderers and West Ham United host Brentford in a London derby.


The fifth round ties will be played between March 7 and 8 with the winners advancing into the quarter-finals.
