FA Cup: Adarabioyo nets twice as Chelsea breeze past Morecambe

FA Cup: El Khannouss, Daka assist Leicester City to comfortable win over QPR

Tosin Adarabioyo was on target twice as Chelsea trashed Morecambe Wanderers 5-0 in the third round of the FA Cup at Stamford Bridge on Saturday afternoon, Afrosport reports.

The game started with the hosts on top as Chelsea were seeing most of the ball when Christopher Nkunku could not convert a penalty awarded in the 17th minute.

The game did not produce any intriguing highlight until Joao Felix forced Morecambe goalkeeper Harry Burgoyne into making a spectacular save to keep the scores level.

The Blues relentlessly kept pushing for an opener until the 39th minute as Adarabioyo’s shot from outside the box took a deflection before going past Burgoyne.

Early into the second half, Nkunku redeemed his penalty miss as he scored from a rebound before Felix came close again as his shot was inches away from the goal.

Approaching the hour mark, the London side were toying with their opponents when Adarabioyo made it three from outside the box, this time with a better goal after receiving a pass from Tyrique George.

Five minutes later, Felix joined the scoring spree as his shot went past Burgoyne. Felix doubled his tally two minutes later with a beautiful goal from a tight angle on the edge of the box.

The victory serves as Chelsea’s first of the year and first in five games as they host Bournemouth on Tuesday while Morecambe suffer their first defeat of the year.
