Reigning Formula One World Champion Max Verstappen has said that he is relaxed about going for a fifth straight world championship title ahead of the 2025 season, Afrosport reports.
Verstappen won his fourth consecutive title last season by finishing 63 points ahead of McLaren’s Lando Norris who posed a real threat towards the end of the campaign.
He will begin 2025 with a new Red Bull teammate in Liam Lawson after Sergio Perez was axed from his seat after a disappointing run of results that saw the energy drink-backed team finish third in the constructor’s championship behind McLaren and Ferrari.
“Honestly, my mindset hasn’t really changed,” he said. “Of course, winning four titles has been a dream, more than a dream, I would say. I’m relaxed. I’m just looking forward, of course, to see how competitive we can be.”
“And from there onwards also, once you realise a bit how competitive you are, you set a bit of a target, but that’s too early to say at the moment.”

On working with new teammate Lawson, Verstappen said: “I’m excited to be working with a new teammate, Liam [Lawson]. I think the whole team is excited and looking ahead to this season. Last year has been challenging at times.
“Of course, we had a lot of good moments, also some tough moments, and I hope we can be a little more stable and a little more all-around throughout the 2025 season.”
The 2025 season will commence with the Australian Grand Prix on March 16th.
