F1: Hamilton to get new Ferrari race engineer for 2026 season

Man City agree deal to sign Guehi from Crystal Palace

Scuderia Ferrari have confirmed that Lewis Hamilton will work with a new race engineer for the 2026 Formula 1 season as Riccardo Adami has shifted to a new role within the team’s academy, Afrosport reports.

Adami worked with Hamilton when the seven-time World Champion joined Ferrari in 2025. He worked previously with Carlos Sainz whom Hamilton replaced as the second driver.

Things were however not always smooth between Hamilton and Adami, with the seven-time world champion often having tense exchanges with his new engineer.

A decision has now been made by Ferrari to the 40-year-old’s engineering setup.

“Scuderia Ferrari HP announces that Riccardo Adami has moved to a new role within the Scuderia Ferrari Driver Academy as Scuderia Ferrari Driver Academy and Test Previous Cars Manager, where his extensive trackside experience and Formula 1 expertise contributes to the development of future talent and to strengthening performance culture across the program,” read a statement.

“Scuderia Ferrari HP would like to thank Riccardo for his commitment and contribution to his trackside role and wishes him every success in his new position.

“The appointment of the new Race Engineer for car #44 will be announced in due course.”

Adami started his F1 career with Minardi in the early-2000s and remained with the squad as they morphed into Toro Rosso, becoming race engineers for the likes of Sebastian Vettel and Daniel Ricciardo.

He joined Ferrari in 2015 as Vettel’s race engineer before teaming up with Sainz and Hamilton.
