Ferrari team principal Frederic Vasseur is confident Lewis Hamilton will be on the podium for the Italian team before the end of the Formula 1 season, Afrosport reports.
The seven-time world champion is yet to stand on the podium for the Scuderia since he joined from Mercedes at the end of last year with his best result being fourth place in Emilia-Romagna, Austria and Britain.
Hamilton started 10th Sunday’s Italian Grand Prix in Monza after a receiving a five-place grid penalty and finished sixth, but still got a lot of support from Ferrari fans who came in large numbers to Monza.
Vasseur believes such support will be the kind boost the 40-year-old needs to finally stand on the podium.
“Yes, we can expect him to be on the podium,” the Frenchman said.
“I think the energy he received from the tifosi on Wednesday, Thursday in Milano was something very special for him.
“It was something mega and I think this gave him an extra boost all over the weekend.”
