Nigerian forward, Taiwo Awoniyi is on his way to completing his first season with Nottingham Forest after his £17 million move from German outfit, Union Berlin. He has been instrumental in forest’s first season back to English top flight football.
His latest impressive performance was against Southampton where he scored a brace to lift them out of the relegation zone in their battle for survival. With three matches left, Forest fans will be hoping the Nigeria forward can propel them to Premier League safety.
After his two-goal performance on Monday night, Owen was full of praise for Awoniyi’s showing in the final third.
“He’s very hard to play against because a lot of players that don’t have pace, you try to squeeze them outside the box even if they’re strong but when you’ve got both qualities like Awoniyi, you become a real problem for defenders.”Owen told Premier League website.
