Two-time Africa Cup of Nations winning coach Herve Renard has been confirmed as head coach of the France women’s national team following his resignation from Saudi Arabia.
Renard famously led the gulf nation to a 2-1 win over Argentina at the 2022 World Cup but reached an agreement to leave after the Saudis lost 2-1 to Bolivia in an international friendly on Tuesday.
His resignation paved the way to join the French women’s team until 2024 which has been confirmed by the French Football Federation (FFF)
“The French Football Federation is pleased to announce the appointment of Hervé Renard as coach of the French Women’s Team until August 2024,” a statement read on the FFF website.

Renard replaces Corinne Diacre, who was sacked earlier in March after several players made their intentions known not play for the country under her watch.
Renard’s first major task will be leading the French ladies at 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Australia and New Zealand where they are paired in Group F with Jamaica, Brazil and Panama.
The 54-year-old Frenchman is expected to announce his first squad for France’s upcoming friendlies against Colombia and Canada during at his official unveiling later on Friday.
