Former Formula 1 driver Timo Glock is of the opinion that Max Verstappen is equal with the legendary Michael Schumacher, Afrosport reports.
The Red Bull Racing driver ended an 11-race winless streak by charging from 17th to win the Sao Paulo Grand Prix three weeks ago.
The result put him within reach of clinching a fourth straight world championship title if he finishes ahead of title rival Lando Norris at this weekend’s Las Vegas Grand Prix.
Schumacher is the joint most successful F1 driver with seven titles along with Lewis Hamilton but Glock , who raced for Jordan, Toyota, Virgin and Marussia, thinks Verstappen has the same qualities with the Ferrari legend.
“It’s still a while away from the world championship titles,” former F1 driver Timo Glock told Sky Sports Sports Deutschland.
“But as far as the qualities in the rain are concerned, as far as the qualities as a racing driver are concerned, Max Verstappen can already be put on a par with Michael Schumacher.
“Max is incredibly good, what he always achieves in the race is extraordinary. Unique.”
Verstappen broke a long-held record of Schumacher in Sao Paulo with his 896th day at the top of the drivers’ championship which stretches back to 2022.
