Nico Williams and Lamine Yamal combined as Spain defeated England 2-1 to lift the Euro 2024 championship in Berlin on Sunday night.
La Roja were making it to their first final since 2012 when they defeated Italy while the Three Lions were in back-to-back finals after losing to the Azzurri on penalties at Wembley three years ago.
After a goalless first half at the Olympiastadion, Luis de la Fuente’s side were the first to respond two minutes into the second half after Yamal set up Nico Williams brilliantly for the Athletic Bilbao star’s second goal of the tournament.
With time running out, England manager Gareth Southgate made some changes from the bench and Cole Palmer came on to level maters in the 73rd minute.
The Spaniards were however going to have the last say with Chelsea left-back Marc Cucurella setting up Mikel Oyarzabal nicely for the winner in the 86th minute.
