F1: Russell dreamt of Verstappen-Norris collision in unexpected Austrian GP win

Lamine Yamal is happy with the chemistry he has built with Nico Williams in the Spain squad at the ongoing Euro 2024 championship.

Both youngsters of African origin have been a key cog in La Roja’s attack in Germany, with 16-year-old Yamal providing an assist for Fabian Ruiz in their 4-1 round of 16 win over Georgia on Sunday.

Williams meanwhile scored a stunning goal and provided the assist for Rodri’s equaliser after the Georgians had surprisingly taken the lead in Cologne.

Yamal and Williams have now had a hand in four of Spain’s nine goals at this Euros.

“You can see that we understand each other very well. We are like brothers. And that helps us a lot on the pitch. Because it creates that connections we have on the pitch,” Yamal said.

The Barcelona sensation also added: “I am very happy for being able to help the team. It’s true that I wish I could have scored a goal. But I am very happy for Nico’s goal, Rodri and the rest of the team. For passing to quarterfinals. We are now thinking of our next game.”

Yamal also went on to praise Georgia for their brave effort in their first-ever international tournament.

“They [Georgia] are a very good team. They’ve been a surprise for everybody. They’ve reached very far and should be proud of what they’ve done. I think they will keep growing as a team and will surely reach much further,” he added.

Spain will take on Germany in the last eight in what will be a rematch of the Euro 2008 final which they won 1-0.
