Euro 2024: Germany star Musiala cautioned on handling pressure

Germany coach Julian Nagelsmann has cautioned ‘brilliant’ Jamal Musiala to focus on enjoying his football rather than dealing with unnecessary pressure.

Musiala, once again, played a starring role for Germany as they sealed back-to-back wins in their first two Group A matches.

The Bayern Munich forward opened the scoring in the 2-0 win against Hungary on Wednesday with his second goal in the competition.

The 21-year-old claimed the Player of the Match award for the opening game against Scotland in Munich last Friday and he did not disappoint with his mesmerising skills and movement in Stuttgart on Wednesday.

Musiala’s top performance was greeted by a standing ovation from the German fans when he was replaced by Chris Fuhrich in the 72nd minute.

At the end of the game, Nagelsmann dropped an advice for Musiala who has stood out as one of Germany’s best players in the tournament.

“I think it’s important for him not to deal with the pressure, just to deal with his capability to solve any offensive one to one situations,” Nagelsmann said.

“I had a lot of meetings with Jamal when I was his coach at Bayern Munich and also now as national coach. He just should play like he’s on a small pitch, anywhere in Germany or England, it doesn’t matter.

“He plays some soccer games with his friends and then he should not think about the pressure because he’s brilliant at just playing soccer, enjoying playing soccer and he did a brilliant game today as well as the first game against the Scottish team.”
