Merih Demiral scored two goals as Turkey beat Austria 2-1 in the final Euro 2024 round of 16 tie in Leipzig on Tuesday night.
The Al-Ahli defender’s first goal came 57 seconds afer kick-off when he pounced on Arder Guler’s corner kick after goalkeeper Patrick Pentz failed to clear his line.
It was the fastest goal in the history of the Euros knockout stages.

Demiral then nodded in another corner just before the hour mark, and although substitute Michael Gregoritsch pulled one back for the Austrians in the 66th minute, it proved to be nothing but a mere consolation.
Turkey have reached the Euro quarter-final for the third time in their history and will set up a meeting with the Netherlands in Berlin on Saturday.
