Spain manager Luis de la Fuente has dismissed the tag of his team being favourites for Sunday’s Euro 2024 final with England in Berlin.
La Roja have been arguably the standout team in Germany, getting victories over the likes of Croatia, Italy, the Germans and France.
This has led to Spain being widely tipped as the favourites to lift a fourth Euro title but De la Fuente does not believe there is any favorite in the final but rather two balanced teams.
“We know that there are no favourites for tomorrow’s game,” he said.
“It’s balanced, exactly the same as the last few qualifiers we’ve had to face. Exactly the same and we leave it to the bookmakers to decide favourites. But we know that if we are not above the level we have been at in recent games, if we are not more concentrated, if we don’t make mistakes, etc, etc, etc, etc.
“Everything we need to do to overcome the great opponent we are going to face, then we won’t have a chance of winning.”

De la Fuente added: “What we do know is that England have fantastic footballing potential, with great individuals, with teamwork and they can come out tomorrow and give the best version of what we think they can give, which for me is also of a higher level.
“So tomorrow we have to face the match, see who can impose themselves with their weapons, who makes fewer mistakes, because that means being more accurate and the more accurate we are than our opponents, the closer we will be to victory. But in a match, even if you are very bad, even if you are much worse, you can still win.”
Spain are hoping to be crowned Euro champions for the fourth time after previous success in 1964, 2008 and 2012.
