Espirito Santo unfazed by Nottingham Forest’s impressive Premier League position

Nottingham Forest manager Nuno Espirito Santo is unfazed by his team’s impressive placing on the Premier League table, Afrosport reports.

The Midlands outfit are currently third on the log with 40 points after Monday’s 3-0 win at his former team Wolverhampton Wanderers and are just six points behind leaders Liverpool whom they host next time in the league at the City Ground.

It has led to suggestions that Forest might be in for a title challenge and pull off an unbelievable feat like Leicester City did in 2016 when they won the league. Espirito Santo is however not getting carried away

“It’s a very tough competition. We are always going to face tough opponents. We need to stay humble,” the Portuguese tactician said.

“We haven’t achieved anything yet, we need to work until the end and this can lead us to good moments.”

Meanwhile, Morgan Gibbs-White, who scored the first goal against his former club, says it would be incredible if they can finish in the top four and qualify for the UEFA Champions League next season.

“It would be absolutely incredible. There will be a few fans who might be able to experience it twice. To be able to give them that opportunity again is what we really want to do as a club,” he said.

“The owner believes in it, we believe in it. We just have to take it game by game and not get ahead of ourselves. Stay calm and stay humble.”

Forest have won six consecutive Premier League games which is the longest winning run of any team in the competition this season.

It is also the first time Forest have won six successive top-flight matches since 1979 when they won seven in a row.
