Christian Eriksen expects to leave Manchester United at the end of the season when his contract expires, Afrosport reports.
The 33-year-old joined the Red Devils on a free transfer in July 2022 from Brentford after kick-starting his career following a cardiac arrest while on international duty with Denmark at Euro 2020.
Eriksen, who is currently with the Denmark squad for the UEFA Nations League quarter-finals against Portugal, has featured 99 times in all competitions for United, scoring seven goals and providing 17 assists, with the bulk of his action coming off the bench.
It is now expected he will leave Old Trafford at the end of the season as no contract talks have held.
“I haven’t heard anything from the club, and therefore I assume that the collaboration will stop – that’s how I interpret it,” Eriksen said per BBC Sport.
“I am prepared to find something new. I am fine with that. Where it will be, I haven’t decided yet.”
Eriksen also made it clear that he does not intend to play in the United States or his home country Denmark.
“The intention is not to stay in England,” he added.
“I am not going to the USA – we are not going that far. We would like to stay in Europe, but it is too early to go home to Denmark.
“I feel like I have some good years abroad left.”
His career started at Ajax in 2010 before joining Tottenham Hotspur in 2013 and spent seven years with the North London club.
He moved to Inter Milan for the 2020-21 season and won the Serie A before returning to England in the middle of the 2021-22 campaign.
